UIndy’s Drake took to the mound just once this past week, but turned in arguably one of the most impressive performances in the GLVC this year. In an 8-0 blanking of Southern Indiana on Friday, Drake tossed a two-hit gem and struck out 18 hitters in nine innings of work. The strikeout mark is the highest total in the GLVC this season and the most by a Greyhound since 1999 – the earliest year in which single-game pitching records are available. USI hitters finished the game just 2-for-29 at the plate, as a bloop single in the second inning and a seeing-eye grounder in the seventh accounted for the entirety of their offensive production. The win improved Drake's record to 7-1 on the year, while his league-leading ERA dropped to 1.02. He now has six complete games and five shutouts on the season.
