Lewis University’s George Thomson has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for men’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday. The sophomore forward was involved in all three of the Flyers goals last week, helping Lewis to a pair of conference wins.
On Friday against Drury, Thomson scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 victory, heading in a Michael Pyle throw-in from the 10-yard line. The Kilmarnock, Scotland, native returned on Sunday to assist on both team goals in a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Missouri S&T.
Thomson’s honor marks the first time a Flyer has been named Player of the Week in men’s soccer since Armin Vrebac earned back-to-back honors on Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, 2010.
