INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana’s Chad Werry (New Harmony, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Werry, a sophomore designated hitter, opened the week in an Eagles’ doubleheader sweep of Oakland city on Feb. 22. He went 2-for-4 in the opening game, a 9-4 win for USI. Werry collected a home run, a double, three runs scored and two RBI in the win.
In the Eagles’ 15-4 nightcap win, Werry finished 3-for-4 with one run, a double and walk.
He returned in USI’s 11-10 win at Henderson State to post a 4-for-4 effort at the plate. He belted two home runs, including a three-run shot that proved to be the winning margin. He finished with four RBI and two runs in the contest.
For the week, Werry was 9-for-15 (.400) with six runs, nine RBI, three home runs and two doubles. USI is 3-1 on the year.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Tyler Goss, Missouri-Rolla’s Joe Montgomery, Northern Kentucky’s Kevin Dusold and Matt Marksbury (pitcher), Southern Indiana’s Jeremy Kehrt (pitcher) and UIndy’s Aryn Ross.
