University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Jesus Escareno has been selected by the league coaches as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Escareno placed second overall this past Saturday on his home turf with an 8,000-meter time of 26:21.6 at the Rangers’ Midwest Open.
A senior from Rolling Meadows, Ill., Escareno helped UW-Parkside to a first-place finish in the 12-team field with a score of 30 points.
Escareno earns the first GLVC Runner of the Week award of his career and he is the first Ranger to garner the weekly accolade since Evan Lewandowski on Oct. 18, 2011.
The Rangers are idle until Saturday, Sept. 29, making the trek to Minneapolis, Minn., for the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational.
