Andy Richardson is one of the most decorated track and field student-athletes in the history of the GLVC. The 1998 UIndy graduate is a two-time NCAA National Champion and four-time All-American in the shot put. As a freshman for the Greyhounds, Richardson placed third at the NCAA Indoor Championships. He finished second as a junior at the indoor national meet before claiming the national championship at the 1997 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Richardson capped his career with the 1998 NCAA National Championship and held the NCAA record in indoor shot put at 19.37 meters. His record stood until the 2006 season. Richardson was a two-time GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Shot Put Champion, claiming the title in 1997 and 1998. Upon graduation, Richardson served as a coach for the Greyhounds while completing his MBA. He mentored a pair of All-Americans, six All-America performances and 14 GLVC champions.
