Dr. Ken Borden served both the University of Indianapolis and the GLVC for nearly 30 years.  As a founding member of the league, Borden was the first elected President of the GLVC and served on all the conference commissioner search committees since 1980.  He was a member of the Awards Restructuring Committee as well as the GLVC Expansion visitation team.  On campus, Borden was UIndy’s Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) from 1980 until his retirement in 2005.  He was the first chair of the University’s Faculty Athletics Committee and served as the chair of the chemistry department from 1977-1989 following a two-year stint as the UIndy sports information director.  Borden’s influence was also felt on the national landscape.   From 1998-2002, he served a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Management Council, which included significant work on the DII Academic Requirements Committee and DII Satisfactory-Progress Waivers Committee.  He also chaired the DII Administrative Review Committee from 2000-2002 and served in the same role on the DII Football Issues Project Team, Health and Safety Committee.
