Hall of Fame
June (Wernke) Rigney is one of the most successful and dominant student-athletes to play in a Greyhound jersey. She was a four-time GLVC Women's Tennis Champion at No. 1 singles as well as at No. 1 doubles from 1986-89, which also helped her glean four GLVC Player of the Year honors. In 1989-90 she was additionally named the GLVC Female Athlete of the Year, which was the first time a UIndy student-athlete had received that recognition. Another first for her and the Greyhound program was their 1989 GLVC Women's Tennis Championship. That same year, Rigney was named UIndy's Outstanding Female Student-Athlete and earned the school's Student-Athlete Sportsmanship Award. She was a three-time NCAA Division II Tournament qualifier from 1988-90 and was featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd." Rigney ended her career with a perfect regular season singles record of 65-0 while nearly perfect in doubles at 62-1. While at UIndy, she was a member of Who's Who Among University Students and later coached tennis at the high school level, earning three-straight Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Girl's Tennis Coach of the Year awards (2002-04).
