The Missouri S&T record books are littered with Tamara McCaskill's name as both a women's basketball and track & field student-athlete. She is S&T's all-time women's basketball leading scorer with 1,525 points in 114 games (second all-time), giving her a career average of 13.4 points per game, while first on the school's all-time list for field goals made in a season (201, 2008-09) and career (591).  Her 160 career steals are tied for fifth, while the 620 career rebounds and 81 blocked shots are both good for sixth all-time. Moreover, she is one of just three players in school history to lead the Miners in scoring in at least three consecutive seasons. As a freshman in 2005-06, McCaskill helped the Miners to their then-best season in 10 years with a 17-11 record and an appearance in the GLVC Tournament semifinals. The following season she was named All-GLVC honorable mention after leading S&T in scoring average (13.4 ppg) and an appearance in the GLVC Tournament. A 2007-08 All-GLVC first-team and Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region second-team selection, McCaskill led the Miners to its best season in school history, earning the most wins in a season (24-7) and finishing second in the GLVC West Division before advancing to the GLVC Tournament semifinals and appearing in the championship game of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional. In her final season, McCaskill was an All-GLVC second-team honoree while the team made it to the GLVC Tournament semifinal game. In track & field, she was a four-time All-GLVC and All-Academic Team selection, high jump runner-up in the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2007 and 2010 and the Indoor meet in 2010, while finishing third in the 2008 and 2009 Outdoor meet. On the national stage, McCaskill was a two-time NCAA All-American, finishing third in 2009 and runner-up in 2010 at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship. In 2008 she finished 11th at the NCAA Outdoor meet and in 2010 she was 12th at the Indoor national meet. Her clearance at 5'8 ½" at the 2009 NCAA meet set a school record. McCaskill received the 2008-09 Gale Bullman Award, given to the top senior student-athlete at Missouri S&T.
