Steven Beattie is arguably the most decorated soccer player in both Northern Kentucky and GLVC history, earning two Daktronics National Player of the Year honors in 2008 and 2010 and NSCAA National Player of the Year accolades in 2010. As a senior, he led NKU to a 20-2-3 season and the 2010 National Championship – the only national title earned by a GLVC soccer program. He earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Year laurels and Daktronics and NSCAA All-Region and All-American accolades during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons. The forward finished his career as a four-time All-GLVC performer, having led the Norse to a 72-13-9 record and a 42-6-4 mark in GLVC play.  He netted 184 points and 77 goals during his time on campus. In 2010, Beattie was the only NCAA Division II player invited to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Combine, and was later drafted as the 13th overall selection by Toronto FC. He currently plays professionally for Cork City FC in Ireland, where he won the 2016 FAI Cup. Beattie, who still owns nine single-season and six career school records, was inducted into the NKU Hall of Fame in 2017.
