Janczewski was a top-performing athlete on both the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams for Ashland during his tenure from 1985-1989. He was a three-time All-GLVC honoree, GLVC Champion, and Runner of the Year in cross country in 1985, 1986, and 1988. Additionally, Janczewski earned NCAA Division II All-America status as a freshman for placing fifth in the 1985 National Championship 10K (31:56.3), becoming the first male freshman in Eagle history to be named All-American. As a track and field athlete, Janczewski excelled at the National level, placing in the top 10 in the country in several events throughout his career to claim six All-America honors, including the 800-meter run (1986 outdoors, third, 1:49.03; 1987 indoors, sixth, 2:08.95), 1,500-meter run (1986 outdoors, third, 3:44.27; 1987 outdoors, eighth, 3:47.79; 1988 indoors, sixth, 3:51.97), and the steeplechase (1989 outdoors; third; 9:00.56). He also earned Academic All-America distinction in 1989. In 2002, Janczewski was inducted into the Ashland Hall of Fame.
