UMSL Women Win 3-1 in Conference Action over Maryville

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior Caitlin Farrow netted a pair of goals to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory Tuesday night over Maryville in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The win snaps a two-game losing skid for the Tritons, while improving their ledger to 3-7-1 on the season, including 3-6-1 in the GLVC. Maryville, in its first season in the GLVC, drops to 5-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the league.

After Maryville took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, Farrow notched her first goal in the 21st minute on a pass in the middle from seniors Anne Nesbit and Sarah Stone and drilled it into the back of the net.

Then in the second half, Farrow recorded the game-winning goal in the 51st minute on a pass on the right side from sophomore Jesa Jenkins.

Senior Anne Nesbit knocked in a security goal in the 66th minute on a header in the box off a corner kick by Jenkins for her fifth goal of the season.

UMSL recorded 11 shots in the game, landing seven on goal, while Maryville took 10 shots, landing five on goal. Farrow tallied a team-best three shots for the Tritons, with all three landing on target.

Sophomore keeper Hanna Sayre played all 90 minutes in goal, recording four saves.

UMSL continues a four-game home stand Friday, hosting Southern Indiana in league play set to begin at 5 p.m.
