SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Tyler Rampey’s goal proved to be all UIS needed as it beat Millikin, 1-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer match on Thursday at windy and wet Kiwanis Stadium.

UIS improved to 2-13-1 while Millikin is now 5-11-1.

The match was playing in a steady, driving rain but the Prairie Stars were able to get on the board just before halftime when Ramey took a feed from Juan Perez and Jonathan Hamer to score at the 44:13 mark.

UIS outshot the Big Blue 14-12 led by Brian Doellman’s four shots while Dustin Curtis added three. Hamer had two.

The Prairie Stars will conclude the 2009 season on Sunday when they host Quincy. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. The UIS seniors will be honored as will head coach Joe Eck who is retiring at the end of the season.
