NKU's Beattie Headlines Daktronics Men's Soccer All-Region Team

INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky junior forward Steven Beattie has been named the Midwest Region Player of the Year and headlines the 2009 Daktronics Division II Midwest Region Men's Soccer Team. Beattie, the 2008 Ron Lenz National Player of the Year, is one of ten GLVC All-Midwest REgion first team selections.

The team is sponored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), with voting powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.

Beattie led Northern Kentucky to a 15-6-2 overall record in 2009. The 2009 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year posted 19 goals and six assists for the Norse.

Drury placed six on the first team while Tiffin had two and Ashland, Bellarmine, Lewis and UW-Parkside each had one member on the first team.

Members of the Midwest Region first team are eligible for the 2009 Daktronics Division II All-America men’s soccer team, to be announced Tuesday, Dec. 1.
