NKU Women's Soccer Season Ends with a Tie

DENVER - The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team battled third-ranked Grand Valley State to a 0-0 tie in double overtime on Friday afternoon in the NCAA Midwest Regional final, but was unable to advance in the NCAA National Championship tournament as the Norse were topped by Grand Valley in the shootout, 5-4.

The 11th-ranked Norse (19-2-1) were led in the match by goalkeeper Rachael Wood who turned away seven shots in the match, NKU was outshot in the contest, 18-4.

Following the second overtime, each team converted their first three penalty kicks, including conversions by Laura Painter, Kristi Hofmeyer and Amanda Mason.

The fourth attempt by NKU's Morgan Price was turned away by Grand Valley State and goalkeeper Chelsea Parise and the Lakers converted their final two attempts to earn the right to advance in the tournament.
