Drury's Villa Zapatero Named GLVC Men's Runner of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Drury’s Jaime Villa Zapatero has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. He helped his team to a sixth-place finish at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday.

In Drury’s first competition of the year, Zapatero finished the 8K in a time of 24:05, just a minute behind the winner. He finished the race 9th out of 359 other contestants.

Other Drury runners helping earn the sixth-place finish were Derek Berry, finishing 40th, and Case Van Arkel placing 52nd.
 
The Panthers are currently ranked 24th in the USTFCCAA September 16 poll and fourth in the Midwest Regional Poll.
 
Drury runners return to action October 3 in Stillwater, Okla., competing in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Northern Kentucky’s Drew Harris and Bellarmine’s Jordan Parayil.
