AURORA, Ill. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rallied on Friday evening, taking six of the final eight matches at the 2010 Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament held at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Ill. The GLIAC took a 12-11 lead in the Midwest Region conference showdown with the strong evening showing.
No. 13 Northern Michigan topped No. 19 Missouri-St. Louis, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, in the evening matches and No. 12 Hillsdale defeated No. 11 Lewis, 21-25, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 15-11 to help the GLIAC schools surge from a 9-6 afternoon deficit.
No. 20 UIndy posted an undefeated mark on Friday for the GLVC, knocking off Northwood and Tiffin to finish the day 2-0.
The Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Torunament, the largest collegiate tournament in the country, is a two-day, 45-match event held annually between all teams from the two NCAA Division II Conferences. The GLIAC has taken the title at the two previous crossover events.
