BOX SCORE

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No. 16 Lewis women's volleyball team trailed on only two occasions, both in the third set, in their 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of non-conference foe Saint Xavier on Thursday evening.

Senior Danielle Mount (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) hit .476 and led Lewis with 13 kills while chipping in three blocks (two solo). Freshman libero Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) totaled 15 digs and recorded three of Lewis' seven aces. Saint Xavier failed to record an ace while serving seven errors. Sophomore Carly Perschnick (Dwight, Ill./Dwight Township/Nova Southeastern) hit .583 with eight kills for Lewis.

Lewis trailed 5-4 in the third set when they went on a 5-0 run. Mount had a kill to make it a 9-5 Lewis advantage and force the Cougars to ask for time. The Flyers never looked back from that point. Mount also added the 25th point in the set to win the match for Lewis.

"Tonight was a fun game to coach," head coach Lorelee Smith said. "When we made mistakes other players on the court helped and we bounced right back."

Lewis hit .227 while limiting Saint Xavier to a .071 attack percentage. Both teams had 16 attack errors but Lewis recorded 41 kills to the Cougars' 23.

Lewis improves to 17-4 while the Cougars fall to 16-9. The Flyers return to conference play on Friday with a match at Kentucky Wesleyan.
