UIndy Advances to GLVC Volleyball Championship Match

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The 19th-ranked UIndy Greyhounds swept Southern Indiana on Saturday evening in a GLVC Volleyball Tournament semifinal match held at Neil Carey Arena on the campus of Lewis University, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18. The Greyhounds (25-7), with the victory, advance to Sunday's championship match.

The defending GLVC Champion Greyhounds hit a blistering .391 in the win over USI. They were led by junior outside hitter Kristina Hefferan (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) who finished with a match-high 17 kills on a .625 attack percentage.

Teammates Kristina Kerrigan (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) and Courtney Anglemyer (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Senior Cheneta Morrison (Fort Wayne, Ind./Ft. Wayne Snider) paced the Greyhounds with 41 assists and added 12 digs and three kills.

Southern Indiana (18-11) hit just .141 in the match with 21 errors and four service errors. The Eagles were led by junior Danielle LaGrange (Santa Claus, Ind./Heritage Hills/Indiana) who had a team-best 12 kills on the night.

UIndy will face the winner of the second semifinal match between top-seeded Lewis and No. 5 seed Missouri-St. Louis. The championship match will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT and carried live on America One.
