DENVER-Behind a strong second half effort, non-conference opponent Regis (1-0 overall) defeated Maryville (2-2) 71-46 Wednesday evening.

Newcomer Zach Perkins (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and sophomore Cody Sorenson (Defiance, Mo.) were the two Saints in double digits on the night as they came off the bench and accounted for 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Rangers had three players in double figures and were paced by 15 from Lance Korell. Curtis Mitchell had 14 and Chris Johansen and Brandon MacLellan each finished with 12 points.

The score was tied 21 all at halftime before the Rangers compiled an 8-2 run in the first four minutes of the second half to build their lead which they never relinquished.

The Saints held the team advantage in three-point field goal percentage (38.5%).

Maryville returns to action next Thursday when it opens its Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) slate when it host Lewis at 7:30 p.m.
