LOUIS—Three players tallied double digits in the 69-44 victory over non-conference opponent Lindenwood-Belleville Friday afternoon, as sophomore Cody Sorenson (Defiance, Mo.) tied his career-high with 17 points, freshmen Asa Toney (Germantown, Tenn.) accounted for 12 and Zach Perkins (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had 10. With the win, Maryville moves to 3-6 on the year and have tied their season wins from a year ago.
Three Saints had five rebounds as sophomores Ryan Shotkoski (Albion, Neb.), Jordan Brohm (Atlanta) and Darrin Young (Kirkwood, Mo.).
The score was knotted once in the first half with 8:10 to play (11-11)until Sorenson single-handedly compiled a 12-0 run as he drained four consecutive three-point baskets over the next four minutes to help Maryville take the 27-13 lead at halftime.
The Saints held all team advantages and set new season bests in field goal percentage (.525), three-point baskets (11) and three-point FG percentage (.555).
The Lynx had two players, John Alexander and John Krodinger, co-lead the team with eight points.
Maryville opens a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) roadswing Tuesday across town at Missouri-St. Louis. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
