SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Sophomore guard Alex Hall scored 16 of his game-high 27 points in the first 10 minutes, sparking the Drury Panthers to a 96-72 victory over Webster University in a non-conference men's college basketball matchup Wednesday night at The O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Dennon Mitchell and JaJuan Maxwell added 21 points each - a DU career-high for Maxwell, the senior transfer from Southeast Missouri State - as the Panthers improved to 7-1 overall with their fifth straight victory.

Webster, an NCAA-III member, fell to 3-3.

The Panthers bolted out of the gates to a 15-0 advantage in the first 3 minutes, 9 seconds of the contest and played the Gorloks even from there the remainder of the half, with Drury leading 51-36 at the break. Hall finished with 16 points and Mitchell 12 points to lead the Panthers in the half as Drury hit 8 of 12 shots from 3-point range, including 4 of 6 by Hall.

The Panthers opened the second half with a 14-4 spurt to break it out to a 25-point lead (65-40) in the first three and a half minutes, and led by as many as 32 points on a couple of occasions from there.

"Our whole philosophy this year in the tweaking of our motion is we're focusing on trying to get Alex and Dennon open," Hesser said. "And our bigs did a good job of that again tonight."

Maxwell added nine rebounds, also a DU career-best, as the Panthers claimed a 46-38 lead on the boards. Brandon Lockhart and Chris Parks added six rebounds each.

Drew Moore led Webster with 18 pionts and eight rebounds.

Drury hit 35 of 71 shots (49 percent) for the contest, including 11 of 22 from 3-point range after making 10 of its first 14 shots from behind the arc. The Panthers also were 15 of 20 (75 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Gorloks made just 29 of 71 FG tries (41 percent), including a 3-for-14 showing from 3-point range.

With final exams approaching, Drury now is idle until a December 18 non-conference game with St. Gregory's at the O'Reilly Family Event Center, with a 3 p.m. tipoff.
