Lewis Knocks Off Quincy; Sets Up Key Monday Matchup
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis men's basketball team bounced back from a Thursday loss and upended GLVC West Division leader Quincy on Saturday afternoon, 69-62. The Flyers have locked up the No. 3 seed in the West Division, while Quincy will need a win at Southern Indiana on Monday to maintain the Division's top spot.
Quincy (20-6, 11-6 GLVC) now leads Saint Joseph's by a half game in the loss column. A loss at USI would push Saint Joseph's (17-9, 11-7 GLVC) into the top seed in the West Division and host rights for the first and quarterfinal round of next weekend's GLVC Tournament. The Pumas hold the tiebreaker with Quincy by virtue of a better divisional record.
Kentucky Wesleyan (27-3, 16-2 GLVC) and Drury (22-5, 15-3 GLVC) have already secured their respective division's top seeds and will host next weekend.
By knocking off second-ranked Southern Indiana on Saturday night, Bellarmine (19-8, 12-6 GLVC) locked up the top No. 2 seed for the tournament. The Knights will host the No. 2 seed in the North Division and Rockhurst, the No. 2 seed in the West Division.
