UIS Women's Baksetball Snaps Skid

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Rachael Follmer poured in 21 points and UIS snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 64-57 win over Lindenwood in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Monday at TRAC.
The win moved the Prairie Stars to 3-20 while Lindenwood fell to 7-16.
Follmer added six rebounds to go with her 21 points while Paulina Pogorzelski added 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Kelly Thompson chipped in with 11 points.
Lindenwood got 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds from Kelly Albers.
The Lady Lions jumped out to an early lead at 12-4 nearly six minutes into the game but UIS took the lead at 24-22 during a 25-11 run over the next 9:30 and enjoyed a 29-23 lead, the Prairie Stars’ biggest advantage of the first half, with four minutes to play.
UIS opened the second half strong, running out to and eight-point advantage three times but Lindenwood clawed back into the contest with a 16-5 run that gave them a 54-51 lead with 6:09 to play.
UIS responded with a short jumper by Follmer and a three-pointer by Thompson with 4:15 to play that quickly erased the Lady Lions lead and UIS cruised home with the victory.
The Prairie Stars return to action on Saturday when they host Quincy at TRAC. The Pink Zone game will tip-off at 1 p.m.
