JACKSON, Tenn.-The Maryville University men's golf team took 12th in the 14-team field at the Grover Page Classic hosted by the University of Tennesee-Martin with its team score of 956 (323-316-317).
Central Arkansas won the team title with its three-round score of 847 (277-279-291) and Gideon Pienaar of the Bears was the individual medalist with his score of 209 (68-69-72).
Sophomore Rob Maruska (St. Charles, Mo.) was the top Saints finisher as he ended tied for 23rd with his three-round score of 228 (77-74-77). He set new career marks in all three categories: 18-, 36- and 54-hole scores.
Junior Sam Carlson (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) was the next golfer on the leaderboard as he tied for 53rd with his 240 (81-82-77). Freshman Brad Howell (Troy, Mo.) followed closely behind with his 242 to tie for 58th place.
Classmate Michael Fowler (Centralia, Ill.) finished tied for 61st with his 246 and Brandon Monzyk took 81st to round out Maryville's "A" team.
Junior Paul Greffet (St. Louis) tied for 73rd as he shot a career-best 82 in the final round. Seniors Tom Whitaker (St. Charles, Mo.), Cory Scott (Hannibal, Mo.) and junior Eric Shubert (Red Bud, Ill.) placed 77th, 78th and 79th, respectively.
Senior Jesse Weller (Chesterfield, Mo.) took 83rd to round out that Saints' "B" team.
Maryville returns to the links Sunday, March 14 at its own Spring Invitational at Aberdeen Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
