Maryville Takes Fifth at own Spring Invitational

EUREKA, Mo.-The Maryville University men's golf team placed fifth in the 11-team field at its own Spring Invitational held at Aberdeen Golf Club in Eureka, Mo. As a team, the Saints carded a 626 (309-317) over the two-day competition.

Lindenwood University won the team title with its back-to-back 303s and Jonathan Haedt of the Lions' "B" team won the individual medalist with his 147 (71-76).

Sophomre Rob Maruska (St. Charles, Mo.) was the top Saints finisher as he took fourth to be named to the All-Tournament team with his career-best 150 (73-77).

Freshman Brad Howell (Troy, Mo.) was the next Maryville golfer on the leaderboard with his 156 (79-77) and finished tied for 16th.

Junior Sam Carlson (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Michael Fowler (Centralia, Ill.) each finished tied for 25th with a 160 and junior Paul Greffet (St. Louis) finished tied for 52nd to round out the Saints' "A" team.

Maryville also fielded a "B" team which was led by senior Tom Whitaker (St. Charles, Mo.) who finished tied for 25th with a 160.

Classmate Cory Scott (Hannibal, Mo.) shot a 166 and junior Brandon Monzyk (Chesterfield, Mo.) carded a 167.

Seniors Eric Shubert (Red Bud, Ill.) and Jesse Weller (Ballwin, Mo.) rounded out the "B" team with their scores of 168 and 172, respectively.

The Saints return to the links April 2 at the Great Lakes Regional #2 in Georgetown, Ky.
