BUTLER, Ky. – The Bellarmine linksters opened their spring 2010 season by finishing third in the Northern Kentucky University Spring Classic this past weekend at Pendleton Country Club. The Knights teed off Saturday shooting 293 (+5), while firing a 295 (+7) to finish at 588 (+12) for the Classic.
Three Bellarmine players finished in the top fifteen overall for the tourney. Topping the board for Bellarmine was Adam Mallory, who finished fifth overall, posting a 2-over par 146, (73, 73) in his debut tournament for the Knights. Brooks Herrick shot a 4-over-par 148, (74, 74) to finish tied for seventh, while Bryan Ratterman carded a 149 (76, 73), earning a T-13 finish at Pendleton. Nick Becht and Chris Stout rounded out the top five shooting a 154, 10-over par, and 155, 11-over-par.
Northern Kentucky won the tournament, leading the 7-team field with a 5-over-par 581. Ashland University finished second with a 585, 9-over par for the weekend.
The Knights tee it up again this weekend, Mar. 27-2,8 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind. for the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
