MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.- The 13th-ranked University of Indianapolis men’s golf team recorded a two-round score of 602 to place sixth at the 20-team North Alabama Spring Classic Monday and Tuesday, held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails at the Shoals.  Senior Seth Fair (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) notched his fifth top-five showing of the season, as his 36-hole score of 148 was good for a share of fourth.

Fair (75-73) started the day tied for ninth but used a one-over 73 Tuesday to leapfrog into the top five.  He was one of three Greyhounds to benefit from a second-round 73, as sophomore Aaron Monson (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and senior Brad Abel (Nappanee, Ind./Northwood) each turned the trick.  Monson (77-73) also moved up four spots into a tie for 14th, while Abel (81-73) vaulted from 56th to 39th place.

Junior Blair Webb (Avon, Ind./Avon) tied for 34th with a two-day score of 153 (77-76), while senior Kyle Miller (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) shared 45th with a 155 (78-77).

One hundred and one golfers battled the lengthy 8,092-yard Fighting Joe course at the Shoals, with none finishing below par.  Delta State’s Chase Smith (75-69), one of three players to shoot a 69 Tuesday, finished at even par to take medalist honors.

Fourth-ranked and host North Alabama (298-290) placed three golfers in the top 10 to win the team title by five strokes over Delta State (303-290).

UIndy has a quick turnaround this week as the team will compete in the Great Lakes Spring Regional this Friday and Saturday.  The event will be held at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.
