MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Lewis University women's tennis were faced with the daunting task of trying for the upset of No. 22 Florida Tech on their home court, but the Panthers proved to be too much as they pitched the 9-0 non-conference shutout over the Flyers on Wednesday (March 3) afternoon.
"The ladies competed really well, despite the fact we were down 2-0 to start the match," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "It's tough mentally when you start in a hole like that and we just couldn't get it going."
With the win, Florida Tech improves to 7-3 overall, while the Flyers fall to 2-4.
Lewis opens Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday, March 20th, as the Flyers head to the state capital against Illinois-Springfield. First serve is set for 2 PM (CST).
