Drury Defeats College of Ozarks in Non-Conference Volleyball Match

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - Drury's volleyball Panthers used scores of 25-22,26-24,13-25, 13-25 and 15-13 to take down the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks 3-2 in a non-conference match here on Monday.

C of O fell to 19-7 while Drury improved to 12-8.

Drury opened the match with a pair of close wins 25-22, then forced to go to 26-24 for a set two victory for the 2-0 lead. The Bobcats rallied back with 25-13 wins in both set three and set four to tie the match up and force the fifth and final set. The Panthers hit a blistering .588 for the final set with 10 kills on 17 attacks with no errors to capture a 15-13 win for the match.

Freshman Sara Borneman paced the Panther attack with 18 kills, followed by Ali Rook with 14 and Janey Phillips with eight. Alexis Dutt had 44 assists and freshman Brooke Foster added 17digs. DU struggled hitting just .166 at the net for the match with the Bobcats attacking at a .269 clip. Mariah Mock paced the Bobcats with 16 kills and Kylie Dudley had 30 assists.

Drury returns action at the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover in Aurora, Illinois on Friday when they will face Michigan Tech at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14. Drury will then face Ohio Dominican at 10 a.m. and University of Findlay at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 to wrap up tournament play.
