GLVC Retains Title at Annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Volleyball Tournament

AURORA, Ill. - Behind unbeaten efforts from Northern Kentucky, William Jewell and Rockhurst, the Great Lakes Valley Conference defended the title at the annual Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament. The GLVC finished with a 29-19 advantage and 11 of the league's 16 teams finished the event with a winning record.

No. 13 Northern Kentucky, the No. 2 seed in the GLVC, topped 11th-ranked Ferris State, 25th-ranked Northern Michigan and Ashland during the weekend and were led by Jenna Schreiver who had 10.50 assists, 1.83 kills and 1.33 digs per set. 

Rockhurst, the No. 12 seed from the GLVC, rolled to wins over Lake Superior State, Tiffin and Cedarville with Maggie McGovern 4.60 kills and 5.30 points per set.

William Jewell, the No. 10 seed in the GLVC, posted three wins in its first crossover event. The Cardinals topped Lake Erie, Tiffin and Lake Superior State.

The GLVC and GLIAC have each taken the crown at the event twice with the GLIAC taking home the trophy in 2008 and 2009 and the GLVC earning wins in 2010 and 2011. The all-time series record at the largest collegiate volleyball tournament in the country is 92-85 in the GLIAC's favor.

Schreiver and McGovern were joined on the All-Tournament Team by Indianapolis' Kristina Kerrigan, Missouri S&T's Erin Bekebrede, William Jewell's Katie Dagmar and Lewis' Danielle Mount, Hillsdale's Ashlee Crowder and Carla Leutheuser, Ferris State's Samantha Fordyce, Wayne State's Lindsey Graciak and Kristen Bulkiewicz and Findlay's Mackenzie Vorst.
