KANSAS CITY – The Rockhurst men’s soccer team claimed the regular season crown and top seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament on Tuesday night with a 4-0 decision over visiting William Jewell. The Hawks (13-2-1, 12-2-1) scored twice in each half in the win with Nick McDonald scoring both in the first 45 minutes. He tallied the game-winner in the ninth minute on an assist from Dan Frohock and added a second in the 18th minute on an assist from Paolo Scoppola. Fohock and Scoppola each recorded a second assist on Alioune Gueye’s goal in the 55th minute and Danny Esselman added a goal in the 87th minute. Rockhurst will welcome Missouri S&T for the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Saturday.
Bellarmine 1, No. 4 Northern Kentucky 0 (2OT) – BOX SCORE | RECAP
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine’s men’s soccer team upset No. 4 Northern Kentucky on Wednesday night to clinch a spot in the GLVC Tournament. Dan Schiavi secured the game-winner in the second overtime against the Norse. He put home the goal from 22 yards out unassisted. Blake Hunter earned the shutout in goal for Bellarmine with eight saves. Bellarmine (10-6-1, 9-5-1) is the No. 6 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournamnent and will travel to No. 3 seed UIndy on Sunday. Northern Kentucky (13-3, 11-3) earned the No. 2 seed and will host Drury on Saturday night.
Drury 1, Missouri S&T 0 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
ROLLA, Mo. – Drury earned a spot in the GLVC Tournament by knocking off host Missouri S&T on Wednesday night, 1-0. Scott Stiffler scored the game-winning goal unassisted in the 88th minute. His goal allowed the Panthers (11-7, 9-6) to grab the No. 7 seed for the GLVC Tournament. Stephen Conner notched the shutout with five saves. S&T (10-5-2, 8-5-2), which will be the No. 8 seed with the loss, outshot the Panthers, 18-10. Drury will travel to Northern Kentucky on Saturday and Missouri S&T is slated to play the top-seed for the GLVC Touranament, Rockhurst, on Saturday night.
Lewis 3, UW-Parkside 1 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Aloisio Barros scored twice on Wednesday night to lift Lewis to a 3-1 win over UW-Parkside. Barros scored in the 35th minute to put Lewis on top 1-0. After UW-Parkside knotted the match just before half on a Niklas Boedts penalty kick, Lewis’ Robens Decius scored the game-winner in the 50th minute on an assist from Niall Hoban. Barros added an insurance marker for the Flyers in the 74th minute on Cristhian Ramirez’ second assist of the match. Lewis (9-7-1, 9-5-1) is the No. 5 seed for the GLVC Tournament and will travel to No. 4 seed Quincy on Saturday night.
Southern Indiana 7, Kentucky Wesleyan 2 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Austin Andrekus recorded a hat trick and four other Eagles found the net on Wednesday night to lead Southern Indiana to a 7-2 win over visiting Kentucky Wesleyan. Andrekus, who also notched two assists on the night, scored all three goals in the first half on Wednesday including a pair unassisted in the first 11 minutes of the match. USI (5-10-2, 4-9-2) outshot the Panthers in the match, 26-4.
Indianapolis 2, Saint Joseph’s 1 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament with a 2-1 win over visiting Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday night. The Greyhounds (12-5-0, 11-4-0) received a goal in the 35th minute on an assist from Tom McGuire and Casey Castle recorded the game-winner in the 65th minute on an assist from Taku Chapman. Saint Joseph’s (4-12-2, 4-9-2) received a goal in the 79th minute on a Bryan Webb penalty kick. UIndy will host Bellarmine on Sunday afternoon in the first round of the GLVC Tournament.
Quincy 5, Illinois Springfield 1 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Quincy men’s soccer team rolled to a 5-1 win at UIS on Wednesday night and locked up the No. 4 seed for the GLVC Tournament. The Hawks (10-5-2, 9-4-2) received a pair of goals from Grant Ellison in the match, including the game-winner in the 9th minute as Quincy jumped out to quick 2-0 advantage. Eddie Ragsdale, Michael Andres and Ethan Venvertloh also added goals for Quincy. UIS (0-14-2, 0-13-12) tallied a goal by Brandon Belcon in the 25th minute to pull the match to 2-1. Quincy will host Lewis in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Saturday night.
Missouri-St. Louis 5, Maryville 2 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
ST. LOUIS – Missouri-St. Louis scored four first-half goals to roll past host Maryville, 5-1, in a GLVC men’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon. The Tritons (8-5-4, 7-4-3) received goals from five different player s on the afternoon, including Almin Sabotic who scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute on assists from Peter Hyde and Jordan Bruce. Sabotic assisted on Thomas Mihalczo’s goal in the 31st minute to put the Tritons up 2-1 and Evan Schumacher added the eventual game-winner in the 36th minute. Maryville (4-12-1, 3-11) received a pair of goals from Matt O’Daniel in the loss.
