GLVC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND
#1 Northern Kentucky 2, #8 Missouri-St. Louis 1 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- Top-seeded Northern Kentucky defeated No. 8 seed Missouri-St. Louis 2-1 in first round GLVC Women's Soccer Championship action Friday afternoon. With the win, the Norse will host next weekend's semifinal and final matches of the tournament. A header by Kristi Hofmeyer off of a Laura Painter corner kick at the 3:01 mark put #9 Northern Kentucky up early. Hofmeyer's seventh goal of the year scored just inside the left post. Painter tallied a goal of her own six and a half minutes later to put the host Norse up 2-0 on an unassisted goal on a direct off of a corner kick. Courtney Blake got Missouri-St. Louis on the board in the 43rd minute, scoring her second goal of the year on a rebound of a Kaylee Neutzling shot from about three yards out. The loss drops the Tritons to 9-9-0, while the Norse improve to 15-1-1 with the victory, and advance to host #4 Quincy in semifinal action next weekend.

QUINCY, Ill. - A goal in the 68th minute off the head of Megan Wigenbach lifted the host Lady Hawks to a 1-0 win over visiting Rockhurst in the first round of GLVC Tournament play at #4 seeded Quincy Saturday night. Wingenbach's fourth goal of the year came off of a Jaclyn Mastroianni corner kick. The ball crossed the goal line before before it was cleared away, giving Quincy the narrow victory. With the win, the Lady Hawks advance on in GLVC tournament play to face off with top-seeded Northern Kentucky in the conference semifinal. The loss drops tournament five-seed Rockhurst to 12-4-2 on the season, while Quincy improves to 15-4-0.
