GLVC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND
#3 Wisconsin-Parkside 2, #6 Southern Indiana 0- BOX SCORE | RECAP
SOMERS, Wis.- The host #3 seeded Rangers took a 2-0 win over visiting #6 seeded Southern Indiana in GLVC Tournament first round action from UWP Sunday afternoon. Kristen Benson tallied the Ranger gamewinner in the 50th minute, on a ball from Natalie Brown. Benson sent the goal home from the left side, across the frame and just past the hands of the Southern Indiana keeper. Megan Owens scored the second Wisconsin-Parkside goal in the 62nd minute, on a ball from Shannon Becker. Owens sent the ball through the USI keeper's legs on a one-on-one showdown. The assist for Becker tied the UWP all-time assists mark. The Rangers will play #2 seed Bellarmine at Northern Kentucky in a semifinal match next weekend.
#2 Bellarmine 3, #7 UIndy 0 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Two-seed Bellarmine took a 3-0 loss over visiting seven-seed UIndy in first round action from Louisville Sunday. The host Knights scored in the 31st minute. Abby Janszen was the goal scorer, picking up a turnover and shooting it into the bottom right corner of the frame. Bellarmine added another goal about four minutes later, with Jessie York scoring on a rebound off the crossbar on a Melanie Stippler corner kick. The Knights took a 3-0 lead just after the 73-minute mark, with Alex Kowalski scoring her seventh goal of the year on a rebound of a Leah Loven shot tapped into the bottom right corner of the net. Bellarmine advances to play #3 seed Wisconsin-Parkside next weekend at Northern Kentucky.
