#10 Drury 3, #7 Wisconsin-Parkside 1 – BOX SCORE
(25-21, 14-25, 27-25, 25-23)
No.10 seed Drury pulled an early morning upset on Friday, knocking off No. 7 seed Wisconsin-Parkside in four sets in the opening match of the GLVC Volleyball Tournament held at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center at UIndy. The Panthers (18-13) advanced to tonight’s 6 p.m. match and will face No. 2 seed Lewis. Drury was led by Erica Heim who posted 18 kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Ali Rook added a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs and Sara Borneman chipped in 13 kills as well. Alex Dutt paced the attach with 46 assists and she added 14 digs. UW-Parkside (15-16) who outhit the Panthers in the match .216 to .192 were led by Cassy Marx who finished with 14 kills. Jess Mainczyk added 17 digs for the Rangers.
#8 Rockhurst 3, #9 Quincy 1 – BOX SCORE
(23-25, 27-25, 25-15, 25-19)
Senior Maggie McGovern tallied 19 kills and 12 digs to lift No. 9 seed Rockhurst to a 3-1 win over No. 8 seed Quincy in the first round of the GLVC Volleyball Tournament. McGovern hit .333 and added a pair of blocks as Rockhurst (16-14) rallied after dropping the first set to Quincy. Teammate Maggie Hummel added 11 kills on a .304 hitting percentage and Leah Grant finished with 46 assists. Victoria Mahl recorded 21 digs for the Hawks as they limited Quincy to a .186 attack percentage. Quincy (15-14) was led by Briann Joslin who posted a match-high 23 kills and six blocks. Rockhurst will now face top-seed Indianapolis at 8:30 p.m.
#3 Missouri S&T 3, #6 Missouri-St. Louis 0 - BOX SCORE
(25-20, 25-22, 25-10)
Missouri S&T, the No. 3 seed at the GLVC Volleyball Tournament, advanced to semfinal play by defeating No. 6 seed Missouri-St. Louis in a quarterfinal match, 3-0. The Miners (24-8) received 13 kills each from Erin Bekebrede and Jackie Zellmer in the win. Zellmer hit at a .526 clip and Bekebrede hit .478. Jennifer Costello added 36 assists and seven digs and Jocelyn DeMotte posted a match-high 15 digs. Missouri-St. Louis (19-10) was led by Erin Higgins and Weslei Gaff who each had a team-high seven kills. Missouri S&T advances to Saturday's 5 p.m. semifinal where it will face the winner of the Lewis-Drury quarterfinal.
#4 Northern Kentucky 3, #5 Southern Indiana 0 - BOX SCORE
(25-19, 25-19, 26-24)
Northern Kentucky had three players in double-digit kills in a sweep of Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon in a GLVC Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal match. The No. 6 seed Norse (25-4) were led by Sarah Drennen who had 11 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Noelle Peterson added 11 kills and five digs and Gennie Galfano posted 10 kills on a .562 hitting percentage. Junior Jenna Schreiver led the attack with 41 assists and the Norse held USI to a .115 hitting percentage. The No. 5 seed Eagles (20-10) were paced by Danielle LaGrange who had 12 kills, five digs and four block. Northern Kentucky will face the winner of the UIndy-Rockhurst quarterfinal in the second semifinal on Saturday.
#2 Lewis 3, #10 Drury 0 - BOX SCORE
(25-16, 25-18, 25-13)
Second-seeded Lewis collected a 3-0 sweep over No. 10 seed Drury in the quarterfinal round of the GLVC Volleyball Tournament. The Flyers (24-5) were led by Daniell Mount who posted 15 points on a team-high nine kills and eight blocks. Hannah Koeneman added six kills and eight blocks. Lewis finished the match with 24 blocks and limited Drury to a .042 hitting percentage. Drury (17-14), who defeated UW-Parkside in the first match of the day to advance to the evening quarterfinal, was paced by Ali Rook who had a match-high 12 kills and chipped in 11 digs. Lewis advances to Saturday's semifinal round where it will face Missouri S&T in the first match of the night.
#1 Indianapolis 3, #8 Rockhurst 0 - BOX SCORE
(25-16, 25-13, 25-17)
Top-seeded Indianapolis completed the first day of competition at the GLVC Volleyball Tournament on Friday night with a 3-0 win over No. 8 seed Rockhurst. The Greyhounds (20-7) were led by Meghan Binkerd who had 40 assists in pacing UIndy to a .340 hitting percentage. Kristina Kerrigan posted 13 kills and Kristina Hefferan added 12 kills for the Greyhounds. Rockhurst (16-15) were paced by Maggie McGovern's eight kills. Indianapolis will meet No. 4 seed Northern Kentucky in the 7:30 p.m. semifinal on Saturday
