HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky had five players in double figures as it rolled to a 106-58 win over visiting Cincinnati-Clermont on Saturday afternoon. The Norse (1-0) were led by Jon Van Hoose who had a team-high 17 points and canned five three-pointers on eight attempts. Deandre Nealy and Ernest Watson combined for 30 of NKU’s 55 bench points on the day, scoring 14 and 16, respectively. NKU (1-0) will next host Lane on Thursday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Top-ranked Bellarmine opened their 2011 campaign with an 85-71 win over in-region foe Saginaw Valley State on Saturday afternoon. The Knights’ (1-0) starting backcourt poured in 61 points to lead the way. Jeremy Kendle scored a game-high 31 points on 14-of-19 shooting and Braydon Hobbs added 18 points on a 7-of-12 effort from the field. Chris Dowe added 12 points and Bellarmine finished the game shooting 54 percent. Bellarmine will next travel to Wayne State on Wednesday.
Drury 80, Hendrix 51 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury opened its season with an 80-51 win over visiting Hendrix on Saturday afternoon. Alex Hall led the way with a game-high 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting. He hit 4-of-6 three-pointers and added four steals. Brandon Lockhart and Teddy Simniok added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Panthers. Drury shot 52.4 percent for the game, outrebounded Hendrix 40-33 and forced its opponent into 24 turnovers. Drury (1-0) will next head to Southwest Baptist on Monday night.
Lake Superior State 74, Illinois Springfield 66 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
MIDLAND, Mich. – Illinois Springfield was edged by Lake Superior State on Saturday afternoon, 74-66, in a non-conference game held at Northwood. UIS (0-2) was paced in the loss by Kyle Gupton who scored a team-high 18 points. West Dawson recorded a double-double with 11 point and 13 rebounds for the Prairie Stars and chigozie Umeadi came off the bench to chip in 12 points and six rebounds. UIS will return home to face Lincoln on Friday.
Wet Texas A&M 63, Missouri S&T 59 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
WICHITA, Kan. – Missouri S&T struggled offensively in the first half, hitting just 5-of-24 attempts, in losing to West Texas A&M, 63-59, on Saturday afternoon. The Miners (0-2), who trailed 24-16 at the break, could not overcome the poor early shooting despite converting 12-of-16 second-half field goal attempts. Carlton Westbrook led the Miners in the loss with 19 points and four rebounds. Michael Jackson added 11 points and three rebounds. S&T will face Lindenwood-Belleville on Tuesday at home.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis rolled to an 87-48 win over visiting Mount St. Joseph in the season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds (1-0) shot 60.4 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from three-point range in the win. UIndy’s Jarrett Hamilton led all scorers in the contest with 20 points off the bench. Wilbur O’Neal added 17 points and six rebounds for the Greyhounds and Brenan McElroy and Adrian Moss added 14 and 13 points, respectively. UIndy will next host UC-Clermont on Wednesday.
William Jewell 75, Central Methodist 65 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell defeated Central Methodist in a non-conference men’s basketball contest on Saturday, 75-65. The host Cardinals (1-0) received an impressive double-double from center Nick Larson as he tallied a game-high 27 points and 21 rebounds. He was 12-of-19 from the field and grabbed 11 boards on the offensive end. Mark Mason added 18 points for the Cardinals. William Jewell will next travel to Missouri Western on Friday.
Northwood 75, Missouri-St. Louis 71 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
MIDLAND, Mich. – Missouri-St. Louis lost to Northwood on Saturday, 75-71. The Tritons (0-2) were led in the loss by Joshua McCoy who scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Charlie Woods added 15 points and Troy Long chipped in 10 points. Isiah Nunn also contributed 12 points off the bench in a losing effort. UMSL will host Lindenwood-Belleville on Friday.

SOMERS, WIS. – Wisconsin-Parkside routed IU-Northwest on Saturday, 125-70. Thirteen different players found the scoring column for the Rangers in their season opener. Ziggy Riauka led UW-Parkside with 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Colt Grandstaff and Jarvis Lawson added 16 and 15 points, respectively in a reserve role. Ranger starters Steve Jaskulske and Conrad Krutwig added 14 and 12 points. The Rangers (1-0) will host Saginaw Valley State on Thursday.
