Ashland 74, Indianapolis 69 – BOX SCORE | RECAP

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Indianapolis women’s basketball team lost an in-region contest to Ashland on Sunday afternoon, 74-69. The Greyhounds (0-2) held the halftime lead, but were unable to hang on in the invitational held at California (Pa.). UIndy was led in the game by Sydney Weinert who had 12 points and six rebounds. Teammate Megan Gardner added 12 points, while Kristin Turner finished with 11 points and four assists. UIndy will return home to face Michigan Tech on Saturday.

Maryville 79, Eureka 58 – BOX SCORE | RECAP

ST. LOUIS – Maryville rolled past visiting Eureka on Sunday afternoon in non-conference women’s basketball action. The Saints (2-0) forced Eureka into 26 turnovers and led from start to finish in the victory. Abby Duethman posted a double-double in the victory with 16 points and 12 rebounds. JoAnn Thompson added 11 points and eight rebounds and Shelby Miller chipped in 13 points. Maryville will next face Pittsburg State on Nov. 25.

Saint Joseph’s 66, No. 21 Grand Valley State 47 – BOX SCORE | RECAP

RENSSELAER, Ind. – Saint Joseph’s upset No. 21 Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon, 66-47. The Pumas were led by Britney Cruse who scored a team-high 20 points which included her 1,000th career point. She was assisted on the day by Montrell Mills who tallied 14 points and five rebounds and Katie Novak who chipped in 11 points. Saint Joseph’s (1-0) held Grand Valley to a 29.8 percent effort from the field and will return to action against Culver Stockton on Friday.

Kentucky Wesleyan 84, Oakland City 51 – BOX SCORE | RECAP

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan opened the 2011 season with an 84-51 win over visiting Oakland City on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers (1-0) controlled the glass with a 47-33 advantage and shot 42.9 percent from the field. They were led by Lauren Goffinet who scored 13 points off the bench and by Katie Behrens who finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. The Panthers will next face Lindenwood on Wednesday.
