ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men’s basketball team rolled to a victory in its first outing of the year, defeating visiting Principia , 79-35. The Saints (1-0) shot 60.4 percent during the game and were led by Gerald Shaw and Asa Toney who each posted 14 points. Eleven different players found the scoring column on the night and the Saints held Principia to a 23.4 percent shooting effort and just three baskets in the second half. Maryville will return to action at home against Truman State on Saturday.
Southwest Baptist 97, Drury 83 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
BOLIVAR, Mo. – Drury fell at Southwest Baptist on Monday night in a non-conference men’s basketball contest. The Panthers (1-1) were led by Brandon Lockhart and Teddy Simniok who each posted 20 points. Lockhart was 7-for-11 from the field and added seven assists and five steals. Simniok finished 8-for-12 from the field and chipped in four rebounds. Korry Tillery posted 15 points in a reserve role in the loss. Drury will next host Texas A&M Commerce on Saturday.
