MARQUETTE, Mich.- The Lewis Flyers opened their 2011-12 regular-season slate with a decisive 89-53 win over Northern Michigan in a GLVC-GLIAC tilt Tuesday night. Justin Jarosz's double-double led the Flyers, with Jarosz scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds on the night. Chris McClellan and Matt Toth each had 12 points for Lewis, which shot 53 percent in the win. The Flyers continue their season against another GLIAC foe, Ferris State, Saturday in their home opener.
Lindenwood-Belleville 71, Missouri S&T 69 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
ROLLA, Mo.- Host Missouri S&T dropped a barn burner, 71-69, to Lindenwood-Belleville Tuesday night. The loss drops the Miners to 0-3 on the young season. Bryce Foster led Missouri S&T in the loss, scoring a team-high 21 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Nusrath Khan added 15 points, while Michael Jackson had nine points and a team-high 11 boards in the loss. Next up for the Miners is a Saturday matchup with Newman. Missouri S&T lost to Newman to open the season Nov. 11, 83-61.
Quincy 75, Hannibal-LaGrange 60 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
QUINCY, Ill.- The Quincy men's basketball team opened its season with a 75-60 win over Hannibal-LaGrange Tuesday night. Justin Brock's game-high 25 points led the Hawks, while Chris Babbitt added 17 points. Quincy benefited from 21 Hannibal-LaGrange turnovers on the night, and out-rebounded the Trojans 30-25 in the contest. The Hawks head to Chicago Saturday for a matchup with Divsion I Illinois-Chicago.
