EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Screaming Eagles shot almost 60 percent on the night in a 102-40 victory over visiting Principia in women's hoops action Tuesday. Southern Indiana (2-0) got 24 points on an 11-for-14 shooting performance and eight rebounds from Anna Hackert in the win, while Brook Valentine poured in 20 points off the Screaming Eagle bench. USI continues a four-game season-opening homestand Friday, hosting Mid-Continent in a 6 p.m. contest.
Emporia State 72, Rockhurst 50 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
EMPORIA, Kan.- The Rockhurst Lady Hawks opened their season with a 72-50 loss at Emporia State in Tuesday evening action. Chrissy Sarcone led Rockhurst in the loss, putting in 10 points on the night. Kara McFarland led on the boards for the Lady Hawks, corraling six rebounds. Next on the docket for Rockhurst is a home date versus Avila Friday, as the Lady Hawks will host the Catholic Collegiate Invitational this weekend. Rockhurst will also face off with Regis Saturday as a part of the Invitational's action.
Northern Kentucky 70, Virginia-Wise 48 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The Norse opened their regular season slate with a 70-48 win over Virginia-Wise Tuesday. Northern Kentucky forced 19 Cavalier turnovers en route to the 22 point win, and was led by Jaimie Hamlet's 17 points off the bench. Ellen Holton added 14 points on the night for the Norse, while Casse Mogan had 13 points. Sadie Bowling led NKU's rebounding numbers, grabbing six boards. The Norse host Salem International at the Bank of Kentucky Center Saturday.
Bellarmine 80, Central State 55 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
LOUISVILLE- Bellarmine moved to 3-0 on the young season with a Tuesday night 80-55 victory over visiting Central State. The Knights used 57.9 percent shooting against 34 percent shooting from Central State to take the win. Darion Hutchinson's 15 points and nine boards off the bench led Bellarmine, while Allison Osen and Kylie Brady each had a dozen for the Knights. Bellarmine does not play again until after the Thanksgiving holiday, hosting Coker College Nov. 26 as a part of the MetroMedical Thanksgiving Classic, which the Knights will host.
