SOMERS, Wis.- The Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside moved to 2-0 on the year with an 83-68 win over Saginaw Valley State on the first night of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic hosted by UWP. Jordan Mach's 25 points led the Rangers, while Conrad Krutwig posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards in the contest. Leneal Harris chipped in 19 points for UWP, with Jeremy Saffold adding 11. Wisconsin-Parkside hosts another GLIAC opponent to wrap up the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic tomorrow, in Northwood.
Northern Kentucky 100, Lane 57 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The Norse cruised to a 100-57 win over visiting Lane Friday night in the 30th annual John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic, to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Jon Van Hoose's 19 points off the NKU bench were a game-high, while Jalen Billups and DeAndrew Nealy each had 16 points apiece for the Norse. Northern Kentucky shot 57.4 percent in the win, and out-rebounded Lane 45-33 on the night as they never trailed in the contest. NKU hosts Glenville State Saturday night in continued action of the Classic.
Northwest Missouri St. 64, Rockhurst 54 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- The Rockhurst men's basketball team fell in its season opener, 64-54 to Northwest Missouri State at Missouri Western in the opening game of the Hillyard Tipoff Classic. Kareem Amedu led the Hawks with a double-double on the night, tallying 12 points and 14 rebounds. Najja Nicholson added 10 points off the Rockhurst bench in the loss. Next up for the Hawks is a contest against host Missouri Western Saturday at 8 p.m. CST.
Missouri Western 65, William Jewell 64 - BOX SCORE | RECAP
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- A layup with 17 seconds on the clock lifted Missouri Western to a 65-64 win over William Jewell (1-1) Friday evening in the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic at Missouri Western State. Nick Larson's 23 points and 14 rebounds led the Cardinals in the loss, while Mark Mason had 16 for William Jewell. The Cardinals face off with Northwest Missouri State tomorrow.
