UW-Parkside Men Fall at Wayne State

DETROIT - In the lone contest on the GLVC slate Monday evening, the Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup at Wayne State, 95-72. The Rangers fall to 8-14 overall and will return to league action Saturday afternoon at Lewis.

UW-Parkside trailed from the outset on Monday, falling behind by as many as 20 points in the first half. The Rangers shot 39 percent from the field in the opening stanza but struggled from long range by converting just 2-of-9 attempts.

The second half brought a much better shooting percentage for the visitors as they hit 15-of-30 attempts from the field. The Rangers were unable to cut into Wayne State's signifcant lead as the hosts knocked down 69 percent of their field goal attempts in final 20 minutes and finished the game shooting 62.1 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the three-point line.

UW-Parkside's Jeremy Saffold paced the Rangers with a team-high 21 points. Tim Baines was the only other Ranger in double figures as he finished with 13 points.

Wayne State's Bryan Smothers led all scorers with 25 points on the night.
