Rockhurst earns non-conference sweep at Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Neb.- The Rockhurst Hawks picked up a pair of non-conference wins at Bellevue Tuesday, defeating the Bruins 4-3 and 8-0 (5 inn.). With the wins, Rockhurst improves to 19-25 on the season.

The visiting Hawks plated two runs in the top of the seventh to squeak ahead of the Bruins and take a 4-3 win. The tying and winning runs came home on an error-riddled play started by a single by Leslie Furdek.

In game two, Kayla Hoyer tossed a two-hit, five-inning shutout. She struck out nine Bruins en route the the victory. Furdek led the Rockhurst offense with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Her two RBIs came on a two-run homer in the third inning to push the Hawks to a 5-0 lead. Furdek's two hits in game two closed out a 4-for-7 performance at the plate on the day.
