SAUGET, Ill. - Quincy and Northern Kentucky took the upper hand in their respective brackets on Friday afternoon at the 2011 GLVC Baseball Tournament. Quincy (33-17) defeated Southern Indiana 1-0 behind a two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth inning from Mitchell Broughton, while Northern Kentucky (33-18) remained unbeaten at the tournament with a 5-4 win over Missouri S&T in 10 innings.

Quincy and Northern Kentucky each moved to 2-0 in the tournament and advanced directly to Saturday competition.

Following the walk-off loss to Quincy in the day's first game Southern Indiana (35-16) rebounded with a 10-3 victory over Lewis in an elimination contest. The Eagles, with the victory, earn the right to face Quincy on Saturday and will need two victories over the Hawks to a grab a chance to defend their GLVC title on Sunday morning.

Missouri S&T (29-17) was not able to rebound from the extra-inning loss to Northern Kentucky and fell in an elmination game to Drury, 7-4. Drury (35-18) earned the right to play on with the victory and gained a rematch with Northern Kentucky on Saturday. The Panthers, who lost to NKU in the tournament's first game on Thursday, will face Northern Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. CT and will need to defeat the Norse twice to advance to Sunday's championship game.

With inclement weather in the forecast, the schedule for Saturday's contests have been adjusted. Quincy and Southern Indiana will meet at 11 a.m. and Northern Kentucky will face Drury at 2:30 p.m. If Southern Indiana wins, Quincy and Southern Indiana will play again at 6 p.m. If Drury defeats Northern Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. they will face the Norse again at 6 p.m. unless the second game between Southern Indiana and Quincy is necessary. In that scenario, the second Drury and NKU contest would be played at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
