ALLENDALE, Mich./UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.- Both UIndy and Lewis took 1-0 wins in the first round of NCAA Midwest Regional play, while Northern Kentucky and Quincy both fell in its first round action.
The No. 22 Flyers took their win over No. 18 and top-seeded Tiffin on a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh off the bat of Laren Hanford, plating Alicia McKendry from second base.
Lewis advances on to play Grand Valley State tomorrow morning at 11:00 at the GVSU Softball Field.
No. 20 UIndy won 1-0 behind an RBI double from Cori Eckerle in the fourth inning. The hit scored Dakota Malayer and would stand for the remaining three innings of play.
The Greyhounds continue on in the winner's bracket, playing host Saginaw Valley in an 11:00 a.m. game from the SVSU Athletic Complex.
Northern Kentucky and Quincy both lost in first round NCAA Regional play, and will go on in the bottom bracket tomorrow. Quincy faces off with Tiffin at 1:00 p.m. from Grand Valley, while the Norse will play Ashland at 1:00 p.m. from Saginaw Valley State.
