GLVC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The top two seeds in the 2011 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament showed why they earned the top spots in the event by each posting a pair of wins on Friday at the EastSide Centre. Top-seeded UMSL (31-18) upended No. 8 seed Rockhurst 5-4 and defeated No. 4 seed Indianapolis, 9-1, while second-seeded Lewis (32-11) topped No. 7 seed Drury, 1-0, in eight innings and No. 3 Northern Kentucky, 8-0, in six innings.
The Tritons and Flyers will meet in the winner's bracket final on Saturday at 3 p.m. The winner of the game will earn the right to compete for the GLVC Championship on Sunday at Noon.
Elimination games will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. Indianapolis (34-11-1) will face Rockhurst (22-28) and Northern Kentucky (29-14) will meet Quincy (29-15).
The winner of the GLVC Tournament will be named the GLVC Champion and earn the league's automatic berth to the GLVC Tournament.
