FINDLAY, Ohio- A pair of goals from Mohammad Salhieh led top-ranked Northern Kentucky to a 4-0 win over Findlay Thursday in the season opener for both squads. Ben Rascona and Andrew Montgomery both also scored for the Norse, while sophomore Ben Dorn and Sanjit Kang combined for the shutout victory in the net. NKU faces off at No. 20 Ashland Sunday.
Ouachita Baptist 2, Drury 1 - BOX SCORE | DU RECAP
ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Drury men's soccer opened its 2011 season with a 2-1 loss at Ouachita Baptist Thursday. Jesse Williams gave the Panthers the early lead with a tally in the 14th minute, but Ouachita tied the match with a goal in the 30th minute. The host Tigers scored the gamewinner just seven minutes into the second half to post the 2-1 victory. Drury heads to Delta State Saturday.
Saginaw Valley State 1, Lewis 0 (OT) - BOX SCORE | LU RECAP
ROMEOVILLE, Ill.- A goal in the 92nd minute off the foot of Saginaw Valley's Zach Walega handed Lewis a 1-0, overtime loss in the season opener for both squads. Sophomore Flyer Christhian Ramirez had a pair of shots on goal for host Lewis, while Sebastian Kieruzal had two saves in net for the Flyers. Lewis returns to the pitch Saturday, hosting Northwood.
Maryville 5, Missouri Baptist 0 - BOX SCORE | MU RECAP
ST. LOUIS- After a scoreless first half, Maryville turned on the offense in the second 45 Thursday, tallying all five of its goals in the second half. Kory Dowell, Kevin Aubuchon, Erik Carretero, Erik Roediger and John File all scored for the Saints in the win. Maryville heads to McKendree for a Saturday matchup.
Missouri-St. Louis 1, Cal St.-East Bay 0 - BOX SCORE | UMSL RECAP
HAYWARD, Cali- A goal in the 34th minute by Johnny O'Hara gave Missouri-St. Louis its first win of the 2011 season. Goalkeeper Tim Boruff preserved the shutout win, making two saves on the night. UMSL out-shot the host Pioneers 8-7 en route to starting the year 1-0. The Tritions continue on in the Cal State East Bay Fall Classic Saturday with a matchup against San Francisco State.
