With just five minutes remaining in the game Drury freshman midfielder Jack Mathis scored off a deflection from the keeper to put the Panthers past Harding for a 1-0 victory in a non-conference men's soccer match at Harrison Stadium Tuesday night.
Drury outshot the Bison by a mark of 11 to 10 and for the game DU had four shots in the first half and seven in the second. Seven of the Panthers shots were on goal, with Harding having just one shot on goal taken by Jacob Stevens. Mathis led the Panthers with four shots, three of which were on goal. DU senior Taylor Stacy had two shots on goal.
Senior keeper Stephen Conner picked up his second shutout of the season and recorded a save. Zach Auala for Harding had four saves.
With the victory Drury improved to 3-2 overall and Harding dropped to 2-2-1.
Next up for DU will be a pair of GLVC road games, first vs. the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday, September 16 at 12 p.m. CST before going to Southern Indiana on Sunday, September 18 for a 2:30 p.m. start.
