INDIANAPOLIS-Several GLVC men's tennis squads competed at the ITA Regional Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan this weekend. Lewis and Southern Indiana both had players claim the championship of their respective draws to reach national competition. Aside from Lewis and Southern Indiana, Rockhurst, Drury, Bellarmine and Indianapolis also competed at the event. Other GLVC teams in action this weekend were Quincy at the Truman State Tournament and the Illinois Springfield and Saint Joseph men’s squads in dual action.
Quincy at Truman State Tournament: Full Results| QU Recap
Kirksville, Mo.-The Quincy men’s tennis team traveled to Kirksville, Missouri to compete at the Truman State Tournament. The event was a round robin style tournament that included Truman State, Northwest Missouri State, Johnson County Community College and Quincy University. The tournament was divided into four singles flights. The Hawks claimed 18 total singles wins at the tournament. A full listing of the Hawks performance is attached.
Davenport, Iowa-The Illinois Springfield men’s tennis team traveled to Davenport, Iowa to compete in their first dual match of the season. The team opened their season with an 8-1 victory over Saint Ambrose University.
Saint Joseph at Goshen College: Box Score|SJC Recap
Renselaer, Ind.-The Saint Joseph men's tennis squad also had a dual match this weekend. The Pumas defeated Goshen College 6-3 on Sunday. The Pumas earned wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles as well as 3,4,5, and 6 singles to earn the victory.
Rockhurst at ITA Regional: RU Recap

Grand Rapids, Mich.-The Southern Indiana squad also participated in the ITA event, representing the GLVC well. The doubles duo of Diego Gimenez and Juan Quiroz won the event advancing to national competition. The pair defeated Drury’s Roman Gonda and Lukas Kriem in the championship match. Gimenez also advanced to the semifinals of the tournament before falling to Gonda.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-Lewis also competed at the ITA event where senior Uno Lapimaa claimed the singles title. Lapimaa will now represent the GLVC in national competition. He defeated Roman Gonda in the final. Lapimaa and doubles partner Michael Wojnarowski also advanced to the semifinals in doubles before falling to eventual champion, and fellow GLVC team of Diego Gimenez and Juan Quiroz of Southern Indiana.
Drury at ITA Regional Tournament: DU Recap
Grand Rapids, Mich.-Drury competed at the ITA event this weekend as well. Drury had several players advancing to the later stages of the tournament. Junior Roman Gonda and doubles partner sophomore Lukas Kriem worked their way to the final of the doubles bracket before falling to Southern Indian’s number one doubles team. Gonda also advanced to the final of the singles draw.
Indianapolis at ITA Regional Tournament: INDY Recap
Grand Rapids, Mich.-The Indianapolis Greyhounds were also in action at the ITA this weekend. Sophomore Trevor Cox posted an upset win over the number two seed to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament, before dropping his quarterfinal match to Southern Indiana’s Diego Gimenez, and sophomore Michael Bradley reached the semifinals of the B draw respectively.
Bellarmine at ITA Regional Tournament: BU Recap
Grand Rapids, Mich.- The Bellarmine men's tennis team also made an appearance at the ITA Regional event. Freshman Alan Gardiner claimed the B singles draw title for the Knights. In doubles, junior Anton Rabinov and freshman Igal Mostkov earned two wins in the main draw before falling to the eventual champion.
