SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Sara Borneman had 14 kills, Alexis Dutt posted 39 assists and Brooke Foster had a team-high 16 digs as the freshman trio helped Drury knock off No. 23 Harding 3-1 in non-conference volleyball action Monday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Drury moved to 9-5 overall with the win, while Harding fell to 14-2.
Drury took the first set 25-23, and after Harding posted a 25-14 win in the second, the Panthers put the match away by 25-15 and 25-17 scores in sets three and four for the victory.
Amanda Watson added 11 kills and a team-high six blocks and Ali Rook had 10 kills for the Panthers, had a .297 attack percentage to Harding's .177.
Rook also had 13 digs and freshman Erica Heim added 11 for the Panthers.
"The two main things that popped out tonight were how good our offensive balance was - all five of our hitters really contributed - and I thought overall Alexis' set selection was very good," Drury coach Ashleigh Fitzgerald siad. "Secondly, it was nice to see us play with a lot of intensity in a fourth set. We'd yet to do that all year. it was a back-and-forth competitive game, and our kids really ratcheted up their level of intensity and showed some maturity."
Drury returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend at No. 18 Northern Kentucky on Friday and Bellarmine on Saturday.
