INDIANAPOLIS –Bellarmine junior middle distance runner Angela Musk (Bardstown, KY/Bethlehem) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Missouri S&T sophomore Molly Clement (Souderten, PA, Souderten) earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after their weekend performances.
Musk, a junior, led the Knights at two different events over the weekend. On Friday, Musk anchored Bellarmine’s distance medley relay team at the Indiana Relays recording a 5:02.6 1600 meter split. This time helped lead the relay team to an NCAA provisional mark and helped record a total time (12:02.19) that currently ranks in the top five in all of NCAA Division II. Musk then returned Saturday to compete at the Rod McCravy Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky where she recorded a school record in the 3000 meter race. Musk placed tenth overall amongst a Division I dominated field with a time of 9:54.88.
Missouri S&T sophomore Molly Clement earns the women’s field athlete of the week after leading the Miners at the Lion Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern over the weekend. Clement took first place in the pole vault with a clearance of 11-7 ¾. Clement’s winning performance bested the runner-up by an impressive six inches and was good for the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Up next for the Bellarmine women’s track & field team is a trip to Greencastle for the Tiger Invitational on Friday, while the Miners will head to Bloomington for the Keck Invitational.
